The Kimberley Riverside Campground is owned by the City of Kimberley, but is operated by the Kimberley Community Development Society as a non-profit organization. The Resort Campground is located only 8 minutes drive from Kimberley's downtown center. Nestled in the pristine St. Mary River valley, the campground offers incredible scenery, quiet & relaxing surroundings and endless opportunities for all to enjoy.

Our commitment to the Environment - Another great reason to stay at the Kimberley Riverside Campground... Our staff prides itself on our efforts to maintain an environmentally-friendly resort for our guests to enjoy. Our pool is heated by Passive-Solar panels which is a process that requires almost no energy at all. Our office staff goes to great lengths to recycle and re-use paper and our cleaning crews use natural and environmentally safe Green-Seal Certified cleaning supplies. Our toilet paper and paper towels are all made from recyclable materials and we have recycling stations throughout the campground for paper, plastic, cardboard and all types of cans and bottles. We have some of the most environmentally-friendly toilets on the market which utilize a low-volume pressure assist tank and we use low-energy CF lightbulbs. If you have any questions about our efforts to help protect the environment, please ask the staff when you drop in at our office!

    Campground Amenity Descriptions

Resort Pool — Enjoy our FREE heated outdoor pool, which opened in spring of 2005. Features include: An intriguing octagonal shape with a child friendly gradiant depth to 4 feet; built in benches along the inside of the pool wall, a gentle pool entry ramp, and hand railings. Furnished with lounge chairs & shadded pergola, the huge poolside deck and viewing area creates the perfect place to sit and relax in the sun or shade. The resort pool is open from mid-June to mid-September. Coming soon - Pool side Ping Pong table.

Disc Golf Course — What golf?? That's right, disc golf. This is a must try exciting new sport. If you like traditional golf or mini golf, this is the next sport to try. Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. However, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a specially designed flying disc, or Frisbee. The objective is to complete the hole in the fewest number of stokes (or, in the case of disc golf, the fewest number of throws).

There are tee off boxes where you throw from, fairways in the form of nature trails, and instead of greens with a hole, you must hit a target on a pole. As players progress down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive shot from the spot where the previous throw has landed. Trees, shrubs, and varying terrain in each fairway provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Each target pole is marked with a flag and numbered. There are currently 12 holes in all. Disc golf is definitely a blast for all ages and no previous experience is necessary. For more information of this new and exciting sport please visit the Professional Disc Golf Association web site at www.pdga.com.

Playground and Recreation Park — Take a walk down to the park and enjoy the many activities to choose from. The children's playground is equipped with giant swings, monkey bars, a slide and spring riders. Get your family and friends together for a game of bocce, horseshoes, basketball, or sand volleyball at the recreation area. If you just want to relax, enjoy a simple BBQ and picnic along the scenic St Mary's river.

Picnic and BBQ Shelter — We have constructed a brand new timber framed picnic shelter, which is perfect for group gatherings and events. It is also the ideal place to seek shelter from the heat or those fair weather days.

Walking and Hiking Trails — Over 4 kms of walking and hiking trails are spread throughout the campground, with more in the works! Bring your camera and check out the many scenic viewpoints as you stroll along the river or on the high trails overlooking the Rocky Mountains to the east and the St. Mary River Valley to the west. Plans have already begun for interpretive check points through out the trails to learn of the diverse ecology and natural history of the area. Ask our office staff for maps and specific details.

Kimberley Nature Park — Is one of the largest municipal parks in Canada at 800 hectare (1800 acre) in size. Located entirely within the City boundaries it lies adjacent to the campground. Its varied terrain and diverse ecosystems provide endless opportunities for recreation and education. Several dozen kilometres of multi-use trails, criss-cross the forested hillsides, linking small ponds and panoramic viewpoints into a unique soft-wilderness experience for residents and visitors alike!(KNPS, 2004, [online])

Fishing from shore — The St. Mary River is home to some of the best fly-fishing in North America. Some great little fishing holes are to be found throughout the campground. The St. Mary River, flowing along the campground, is fly-fishing - catch and release only. For more information visit www.stmaryangler.com
Please see current B.C. fishing regulations in the office.
